Karate Kid: Legends 4K 2025 Ultra HD 2160p
The Karate Kid franchise, which had grown to include several projects, has finally come together in one place. Legends is an ambitious crossover that brings together the original quadrilogy of films, the 2010 remake, and the legacy sequel series Cobra Kai. Li (Ben Wang), a gifted fighter and student of Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), moves from Beijing to New York and promises his mother to give up dangerous martial arts. Naturally, he breaks his promise for the sake of his new girlfriend, so Lee goes to local karate sensei Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) to combine the styles of both mentors.

I really liked the movie with Jackie Chan, and I was thrilled to learn that Mr. Khan's story would be woven into the Miyagi universe through a sequel. I eagerly awaited even the slightest details about the filming, but when I saw the trailer with Ralph and Jackie, I was tormented by vague doubts: their smiles seemed too forced...
The film tells us about another boy who really needs to win a karate tournament. The plot is quite trivial for this series: only the second film (which I like the most) was not about a tournament. Mr. Han finally opened his martial arts school and, apparently, began to successfully train children. One of his students moves to the United States, where he gets into trouble, which can be solved by his victory in the aforementioned competition. As I said, the plot doesn't show us anything new, but nevertheless, it still arouses interest. Unfortunately, the film starts to run into problems, the first of which is blatant illogicality. Judge for yourself: a kid who has just been beaten up by his peer easily defeats the adult thugs who were about to beat up his girlfriend's father, and then starts teaching kung fu to the father himself. Are you serious, guys?
The second problem is with the characters. The main villain of the film, unlike those from previous films (with the exception, perhaps, of the fourth, but I prefer not to count it as part of this misunderstanding), is completely unoriginal and devoid of any charisma. But that wouldn't matter if it weren't for the problem with... Daniel LaRusso. Machio's character was supposed to somehow tie his story and Mr. Han's story together, but... he doesn't. Moreover, if he weren't there, the film wouldn't lose anything, and that's what upsets me the most.
What did I like about this film?
First, the introduction. As I said above, I love the second film, and it was great to see Mr. Miyagi show young Danny the dojo in Okinawa again.
Second, the scene where Mr. Han arrives at the very courtyard where Danny “waxed it, waxed it.” In my opinion, this is the best part of the film, and perhaps worth watching for this alone.
And thirdly, Johnny Lawrence's brief appearance at the very end.
The result, alas, is disappointing. Those who haven't seen the previous films may like it, but the rest (especially those who had high hopes for it) will be very disappointed.
