The second part of the film “A Better Tomorrow” tells the story of how former gangster Ho, after being released from prison, infiltrates a gang of counterfeiters with the help of his brother Kit, a police officer.

When the life of the gang's leader, Lung, is in danger, the brothers smuggle him to New York under the protection of their friend and twin brother Mark Gore — Ken. To save Lung, Ken fearlessly fights the hitmen sent by the mafia. Following his sense of duty, he leaves his business behind and travels to Hong Kong to deal with the gangsters on the spot with his friends.

User Review

The second part of A Better Tomorrow turned out to be better, richer, and deeper than the first. There is more action, more drama, more violence, and more blood. As in most of his films, John Woo masterfully depicts relationships between people, whether it be friendship, loyalty, or betrayal—everything looks very touching and hits close to home.

Of course, the film would not be complete without Chow Yun-Fat, and he is simply magnificent here. Take, for example, the scene in which his face is covered in rice and he tries to portray fear and resentment in front of some arrogant smart aleck.

“For me, rice is like a father and mother! You have insulted me.”

Well, the plot twist with the twin brother amused me, in a good way. If some uneducated person had taken on the task of filming Chow Yun-fat, it would surely have turned out to be some kind of trash that you could only curse at, but that's not the case here. they sent the twin brother to New York, as far away as possible, gave him a wooden spoon, successfully wove him into the overall plot of the film, and played it out beautifully with a touch of humor.

The ending of the film is simply brilliant! It's not some lame shootout between the bad guy and the good guy or a battle under a bridge near a trash can. Four friends, united by a single goal—revenge—take bags filled to the brim with weapons with them. Does that tell you anything? And when Chow Yun put on his brother's raincoat, I knew something was about to happen. Honestly, I didn't expect such an ending, but I will never forget what happened after the friends flew over the fence to the inspiring music. The shooting was brutal. They shot at everything that moved, and everything that moved spilled gallons of blood. For me, the battle in the mansion is definitely one of the most memorable endings. And when the friends sat down on the poufs, I knew I would give the film the highest rating because I liked it so much.

The film is probably Woo's most organic in terms of the balance of excellent drama and fast-paced action. The only film that can compete with it is The Killer. The film is old, but it was made with soul, which is why it has a special place in my heart.
