Jarhead 4K 2005 Ultra HD 2160p
The Gulf War. Marine Anthony Suoford is a military man by birth. After training at a special camp, he is sent to the Middle East, where military operations are underway. With a sniper rifle in his hands and a heavy backpack on his shoulders, he faces a difficult journey through the desert, where there is no escape from the unbearable heat and Iraqi soldiers who can appear on the horizon at any moment. Suoford and his fellow soldiers do everything they can to support each other in this difficult situation. Feeling completely alien in this country, they are forced to fight an invisible enemy for ideals unknown to them.
User Review
In the summer of 1990, sniper Anthony Suoford and his fellow soldiers went to Saudi Arabia to trample the Iraqi army into the desert sands. During his entire time on the front lines, Swafford never once fired a shot at the enemy, but his impressions of the war were enough to fill a memoir, Jarhead, which was very timely adapted for the screen by Sam Mendes, the creator of American Beauty.
Two hours of screen time watching the torment of marines who never got the chance to fight (the war is literally within arm's reach of them), who cannot be called particularly attractive personalities, is not a pleasure for the general public, and the film cannot be called a mainstream blockbuster.
It is a high-budget, but essentially art-house drama that requires viewers to be interested in the subject matter and have a certain amount of patience. The film is not for everyone, and neither the spectacular, stunning staging by director Mendes, a prominent master of cinematic art who was able to show his full range here, nor the remarkable performances of the leading actors are capable of making such a film more “mainstream.”
I would particularly like to highlight Gyllenhaal, who usually plays intelligent “nerds,” but here unexpectedly fits the image of a tough Marine thanks to his incredibly superb acting. This role is a great discovery for me! Now I will always follow this actor and not miss a single role he plays. He has a great future with such talent!
It's true what they say—movies make us stronger. I felt this after watching this film.
