In the 1980s, Sho Kasugi was one of the most popular actors in the post-Soviet space. There was a boom in videos in the country, and various films about martial arts, including ninjutsu, were on everyone's list of favorite films, along with any other successful pictures. Even when translating his name, he was often called Sho, and this name also appeared on video cassettes. Although the number of films he starred in can be counted on one hand, he left a big mark on history, becoming a world celebrity in the 1980s.
The film “Revenge of the Ninja” can be considered the starting point in this actor's rise to fame. Yes, of course, there was “Enter the Ninja” before that, but Sho Kasugi did not play the leading role in it. For me personally, “Revenge of the Ninja” was the best and most interesting film in which he starred, even though there were other good films later on. I still enjoy watching it again and again; for me, it has become a cult classic.
It has a very interesting and dynamic plot, well-choreographed fights, and a long and exciting final scene.
All this is accompanied by excellent music.
The film also starred Sho's son, Kane, who later continued his father's work. It is a pity that he stopped acting early and immersed himself in other areas of activity, although he did appear on screen in 2009 in the film Ninja Assassin. To be honest, when I watched this film, I didn't look at the cast list and didn't even recognize Sho, nor did I expect to see him in the film. After all, I associate him with the positive heroes of the 80s, as he appeared in the famous film “Revenge of the Ninja,” for which I give the highest rating.
