The director and screenwriter of this picture is Damien Leone, the author of a good short film Carrying Terror and such films as All Saints' Day Eve and Frankenstein vs. the Mummy, which received negative reviews from both critics and viewers. Well, let's get started.
You know, it's been a long time since I've seen a really good slasher movie. And this picture is one of them. Horrifying manages absolutely everything that it is. It doesn't try to be anything more than a good slasher, and it absolutely doesn't need to be.
The plot is about a mysterious killer clown who prowls the city on Halloween night hoping to find new victims. Three young girls become his victims, but that's not enough for him and he kills all those who get in his way.
Exploitation cinema is a toy that needs to be played with properly and carefully, but not many people know how to do that. Damien is not in that category. His movie is an exploitation movie in which every cliché is brought to a clear consistency that makes the viewer immerse themselves in this movie, not think at all and enjoy their time.
It has everything you need to do that - liters of blood, a mysterious maniac, a creepy location - and it all looks, as creepy as it sounds, new. It's as if Damien has given a second wind to the slasher sub-genre of horror films. The maniac can even pretend to be good before killing the victim, and it's all such small but memorable and satisfying moments.
