Bring Her Back 4K 2025 Ultra HD 2160p
After the death of their only parent, teenager Andy (Billy Barratt) and his blind sister Piper (Sora Von) end up with a guardian—the eccentric and eccentric Laura (Sally Hawkins), who lives in a country cottage with her cat and her equally strange foster child Oliver (Jonah Ren Phillips). The more time Andy spends with his new mother, the more oddities he notices: the woman watches recordings of satanic rituals in Russian, goes to a creepy shed near the house at night, and tries to turn Piper against her brother.

Directors Danny and Michael Philippou made a name for themselves in 2022 with their film Two, Three, Demon Come. This horror film, shot in accordance with all the conventions of the modern interpretation of the genre, managed to surprise viewers with its original plot and authentic staging. Realistic violence, skillfully placed jump scares, and an important message won the trust of viewers, and the film received not only good reviews but also dollars.
In Bring Her Back, we meet step-siblings Andy and Piper, who are left orphaned after their father's rather strange death. Piper has serious vision problems and is effectively unable to lead a normal life on her own. The children are placed with a temporary guardian named Laura until Andy turns 18 in three months. Laura is already raising a son named Oliver, a sullen boy who stopped talking after the death of his sister Katie, Laura's daughter. Laura herself is an eccentric, overprotective woman who just wants to help. But the further we move along the plot, the more inappropriate and frightening her actions become.
Perhaps the most “normal” scene in the film takes place after the funeral of Andy and Piper's father, when the brother, sister, and their guardian indulge in life-affirming fun with music and alcohol. At this moment, it seems that the Phillips brothers are clearly missing their comedic potential, as they have done such a good job with this simultaneously sad and heartfelt episode. But it is precisely this scene that cuts the film in two. And if the first half was a drama about orphaned children, the second half is a heartbreaking, disturbing, and endless thriller about obsession, and the uncomfortable tension makes your teeth grind. There are no screamers in the film, but it doesn't need them. The film frightens to the depths of the soul with its completely savage and natural violence against the human body. First against the body, and then against the soul.
The film offers viewers a monstrously dark view of the consequences of losing a loved one and the desire to overcome death by any means necessary. The authors tell us that even the sanest person can lose their mind due to the loss of loved ones. The most interesting thing is that the Philippou brothers are exploring this theme for the second time, and it seems like a safe move to avoid losing face after their successful debut. On the other hand, they clearly have something to say on the subject. One of the key strengths of the film is the deep psychological insight into the main characters, whose inner conflicts and suffering become central elements of the narrative. They have already suffered beyond measure, but apparently that is not enough. At these moments, the film is enveloped in melancholy, where the viewer even feels sorry for the stepmother, who is gradually going mad.
Bring Her Back is an uncompromisingly cruel body horror film, shot in such a gruesome manner that it will put you off your food until the next day. Towards the end, viewers may ask themselves what was missing — occult horror or psychological thriller. And, in fact, starting as an overt psychological drama, the film gradually intensifies into a sacred, esoteric, and supernatural horror with a gloomy and hopeless atmosphere.
