Elia Roth's Knock Knock cannot be called an exemplary erotic thriller. And, for once, I can understand the critics who gave Roth's work a rather cool reception. The film's message is painfully banal, and its plot is riddled with huge holes. Keanu Reeves has never had the talent of Robert De Niro, Woody Harrelson, or Leonardo DiCaprio, but in this film, despite my fondness for him, he is simply wooden. With the same success with which he plays Evan Webber, Keanu could just as well have played a lamppost. And personally, I award him an unofficial Golden Raspberry in the category of Worst Male Performance.

Nevertheless, despite all its shortcomings, the film is captivating, holding the viewer's attention until its climax. I give the creators a big plus for the film's style, its atmosphere, and especially the musical accompaniment, which heightens the sense of tension. The film is also very beautifully shot, especially the erotic scenes. But the main plus of Roth's work is the stunning duo of young Ana de Armas and Lorenza Izzo. They incredibly effectively embodied the image of fatal beauties, delighting the male half of the audience not only with their confident acting. Personally, I award the girls an unofficial award in the category ‘Best Screen Duo’.
