One evening, Hector's attention is drawn to a half-naked girl glimpsed in the forest, and, driven by curiosity, he sets off to investigate what is going on there. I defined the 2007 film Timecrimes (originally titled Los cronocrímenes) by Spanish director Nacho Vigalondo (who also plays the role of Joven in the film) as a visualization of the inner world of the main character, his ways of clinging to life and trying to hold on to it (which he fails to do). Hector (Carra Elejalde) is the protagonist who is afraid to live, but also afraid to die, and, constantly wavering between these states, is forced to survive and worry, rather than live in the here and now—he becomes a victim of his fear of losing the world around him, which he once devalued.

The exposition is as follows: a new nice house, a loving wife (Candelia Fernandez) - what else is needed? Now Hector believes that he can influence and control what is happening - he will tell his wife what he needs and what she does not need; he will take a nap without turning off the radio; or looks through his binoculars, carefully scanning the horizon. In fact, it is with the binoculars that the events begin: he notices someone among the trees - something strange is happening there.

Hector goes to where he saw something and ends up setting off a chain of events that becomes more and more costly for him with each turn. Time travel clearly reveals the attitude of the domineering Hector not only towards the past and the future—either I am everywhere and get everything, or I am nowhere and get nothing— but also to people in general and to himself—each time he changes the course of events, he hurts himself more deeply, using the people around him more and more crudely and selfishly to get back what he had before. Everything unfolds rapidly and absurdly, with the main character always one step behind (who?). The main character apparently follows his sincere desire, but internally he distorts himself, listening more and more to the demons living inside him, gradually turning into some kind of horror. Hector's goal is the imaginary and comfortable world he has lost, and the means of achieving it is the revelation he has ignored about the dark and frightening corners of his soul.

On the one hand, Hector's dark world and his desire to control everything around him—he tries to pursue (so who?) himself, while saving himself (so from whom?) from himself—striking blood and ugliness, growing in the film; on the other hand, what the hero is trying to achieve shows that he wants to be part of something good. The combination of opposing forces in Hector—protagonistic and antagonistic—is the hellish engine that sustains and escalates the events. The ignorant Hector's need for closeness versus his madness, motivated by the fear of losing what he has.
