User Review
In a lot of ways I may be the demographic for Transformer movies. Since I am the generation to which the original 80's toys were marketed to. Also, having this take place in 1994 was when I was right out of high school and wanted to reminisce about those days.

Seeing Optimus Prime always gave me a sense of courage. Because his belief in saving worlds went above and beyond what was required. A hero in many ways.

This story attempts to shoehorn the cartoon movie which the Autobots are trying to find a way home.

Unfortunately, the story centers around a Hispanic post-teen dude who has one of the most obnoxious Brooklyn accent, it's hard to not root for his end. But, of course, they have to paint him to be the victim of society. Hard to believe they think he was a former solider. What the script fails miserably at, is that having courage doesn't mean you take revenge on the world by attempting to steal a fancy Porche 911.

It wants you to like New Yorkers. But the rest of the country hates them. They're loudmouths who continue to be prideful and self-righteous entitled elitist who think middle America are behind in the times. Meanwhile, embraces self-destruction. Urban animals. If you are the minority who likes them, this movie is for you. It peppers itself with the typical tropes of city pride ("Brooklyn!") and wants you to do the same because it shows you the Twin Towers. Ugh. Millenials won't understand. Nor care.

The worst part of this flick is that you pair this guy up with an equally obnoxious Pete Davidson as Mirage (wasn't this Jazz in the 80's?). His quips are cringey. It's that guy who thinks he's the funniest dude in the room.

So the story is of a key that opens time portals for a planet eater Omnicron (from the 80's movie) to come to Earth to devour it. Why? Who knows. Because it's there? It doesn't gather much more energy from it that any other planet in the universe would have. So the stakes are hilariously massive. But that doesn't stop that New Yorker from trying to save this planet because...? His brother has sickle cell? Oof. Weak.

What made the movie "Bumblebee" great is the innocence of the human characters. These "street wise" guys are annoying. So getting past that was a chore.

With all the technology I saw being spun around in this flick, why can't they just re-make the 80's cartoon into a live action movie? BTW, the Spike suit makes an appearance here.

Middling movie with nowhere to go.
