User Review
Compared to the previous Throne, this is a real step forward. Ares easily qualifies as an epic blockbuster. The gloss is controversial in places, doesn't always look good, sometimes seems cheap, but it's better than what was in ‘The Legacy’. The prequel to the trilogy only benefits from the staging of the fights, which were more honest there, while here they really skimped on the action. All the choreography is pieced together. But the racial diversity is as good as ever. The theme of AI is woven into the narrative in a big way, which is probably why it's interesting to watch. There are some giggles and laughs, and even a little blood. In the sequel to the prequel, everything was so bland in this regard, to be honest. The vague story of a father and son in the background seems to stupidly tie up the main narrative in a slot machine club. Some kind of friction with viruses for the sake of something abstract. In ‘Ares’, everything is somehow more formulaic and understandable, which is both a plus and a minus.
I suddenly found out that there are complaints about the film, such as that there are not enough scenes in cyberspace in ‘Ares’. Those who say so clearly don't remember Legacy, where for an hour and a half you had to look at a flat neon city, completely uninteresting in terms of color palette and design. And in Ares, it would also be red. Just imagine. It's enough to drive you crazy.
Tron: Legacy is made according to the rules of the dystopian film genre, where the hero finds himself in a strange world with its own laws and overcomes them, running around with his eyes wide open. But in Ares, it's the opposite: the hero from a dystopia finds himself in the world of humans and behaves as if he is familiar with everything. He has a clear goal, and through explosions and wind, the mammoth cub goes towards it according to the laws of a formulaic blockbuster. Of course, Legacy is a film with elements of cyberpunk, with a clear emphasis on visuals. This is clearly evident in the slow-motion scenes, the emphasis on costumes in macro, the emphasis on choreography, and the blur effects. Ares does not have such obvious specific accents, it does not have such a unique style, there is less love in it, if you will.
