The Breakfast Club 4K 1985 Ultra HD 2160p
Five teenagers represent one of the typical school groups in the US: the “princess,” the “jock,” the “nerd,” the “jock,” and the “weirdo.” As punishment, Andy, John, Brian, Claire, and Alison are forced to spend their day off at school. During this time, they realize that each of them is a much more complex person than can be determined by the stereotypes associated with their groups.
User Review
After reading several reviews, I expected more from the film. Although my main goal in watching it was to become more familiar with the work of Emilio Estevez, the directing leaves something to be desired.
It is immediately apparent that the teenagers are played by actors of the same age: Estevez and Ally Sheedy are almost 23, and Judd Nelson is 25.
The presence of the latter in the film completely contradicts the behavior of his character. I went to school. You can't force kids like John to come and sit in school for nine hours (especially on a day off) if they don't have an “escorte” behind them. The archetypes of teenagers are too stereotypical, their actions are questionable, and the emotional scenes are too contradictory. The likelihood of becoming friends with such polar archetypes in a similar situation is simply absurd.
If this film is a message to parents, then it is more like a statement of fact than a recommendation for overcoming a crisis. Teenagers, most likely, will not understand the hidden meaning at all, but that's what teenagers are like. I didn't see any other values in this film.
I wondered why the film was classified as a drama, because I didn't see any drama in it. Weak direction, unconvincing acting, atypical emotional scenes, uninteresting plot. It feels like you've been sentenced to watch this film for some misdemeanor.
