While carrying out a dangerous operation in Japan, a Chinese police officer falls into the hands of the Japanese yakuza. To free him, the authorities send five crooked friends to the rescue, apparently hoping that their unpredictable actions will cause confusion among the Japanese gangsters. Which is exactly what happens. The heroic five defeat the Japanese mafia and return to their main task in life: avoiding prison in their homeland by breaking the law.

More humor, more positivity

...in my opinion, this could be the slogan for this film. There's no other way to describe it in two words. Here we see three of our favorite characters: Sammo Hung, Yuan Biao, and Jackie Chan. But the main role is played by Sammo and his team of five sexy maniacs and one girl. What a gang! In addition to playing the lead role, Sammo took on another difficult job - directing. This is not surprising, since he directed the entire trilogy about five idlers who are always getting into trouble. If I'm not mistaken, this film is the second part of the trilogy. The first was Winners and Sinners, filmed two years earlier and which became hugely popular both in China and in our country... even though most people only had access to pirated videotapes, the main thing is that people got to see these masterpieces.

I devote a lot of time and attention to Chinese cinema. In particular, I like films that feature kung fu and fighting. In my opinion, the best in this genre are Sammo, Jackie, and Yuan. With them, you can not only enjoy the fights, but also have a great time. It's amazing that almost all Chinese films were shot in a hurry and churned out in batches at the time. It's simply impossible to watch them all. But it's in them that I find what I need! Humor, spectacle, excellent acting, and all this performed by my favorite actors. Although this film, like most Chinese films of that era, cannot boast of a large budget or box office receipts, I get much more pleasure from watching it than from modern films with huge budgets, big names, etc.

As for the components of the film, there are two: humor and fights. There is no hint of a sharp plot here... But in terms of humor, the film is a delight; you can watch it just to lift your spirits. Most of the funny jokes come from Richard Angie, who, as in the other two parts of “Stars,” kills me with laughter; you can't watch him without laughing. Samo Hung himself also contributes a fair share of humor. But in addition to the jokes, we get to see some excellent fights performed by him. In the final minutes of the film, he is joined by Jackie Chan and Sybil Hu. Unfortunately, Yuan Biao doesn't really impress with his fighting here, with his only fight being one of the final battles against Japanese gangsters. Although there's not much to complain about in terms of the fighting in general, in My Happy Stars 2, it's a little more beautiful and spectacular than here.

Conclusion: Basically, I have nothing more to say about this film. It is a must-see for fans of Jackie and his friends, and I think connoisseurs of good humor will also enjoy it. The film is good because of its lightness; you can watch it and forget the plot a few days later... but it will leave a lasting impression. As with other films by the Jackie-Samo-Yuen trio, I have a positive opinion of this one. Snack Bar on Wheels, Project A, and Dragons Forever are all priceless masterpieces that I had the opportunity to watch in my early childhood and am now rewatching. With each viewing, I enjoy them more and more, which is what I wish for you!
