The story of several bohemians living next door to each other in a New York neighborhood. Among them is Roger, an ambitious songwriter who is emotionally devastated after his girlfriend commits suicide. He can't bring himself to start a relationship with his neighbor Mimi Marquez, an exotic dancer struggling with her own problems. Roger shares an apartment with Mark, a filmmaker who is trying to combine art with commerce. Mark's girlfriend, Maureen, a circus actress who indulges her desires, leaves him for Joan, a female lawyer. This close circle of neighbors, friends, and acquaintances also includes philosophy professor Tom Collins and a street drummer who came to his aid after a robbery. Benny falls out of this circle when he marries the landlord's daughter, distances himself from his friends, and breaks his promise to provide them with rent-free space. As a result, he turns from a close friend into a sworn enemy, threatening all of the aforementioned tenants with eviction.

The film adaptation of the Broadway production of Rent is the most emotional film I have ever seen. Jonathan Larson is simply brilliant; his music is wonderful, it captivates me and makes my heart sing. I first heard the music for the Broadway version, and then I watched the film. The actors who starred in the film also performed on Broadway, which put the film adaptation on almost the same level as the stage production.
‘Rent’ is a timeless film, a story that will never grow old. The young, talented, loving, reckless characters charm us with their imperfections. I fell in love with all of them, each in their own way. These people have no definite future, living in the moment, with momentary desires and joys. They live life to the fullest, while constantly risking it.

Rent is the best thing I've ever seen. I'm not afraid to use big words and say that this work is genius, everyone should see it. Fans will see it out of interest in complicated lives, connoisseurs will understand everything themselves.
