Once upon a time there was a family, including a husband, a wife and a couple of their young sons. So, on Christmas Eve, they decided to visit their grandfather. It so happened that one of the children, the older one, stayed alone with the old man. And the grandfather, who had not uttered a word before, suddenly began to tell him all sorts of scary things about Santa Clauses... The family returning from the grandfather's visit runs into such a Santa. As a result of this meeting only two children survive. But this is only the beginning of the story...

The first plus is in his pocket. This one's for the opening credits. You see, the movie has two titles. One is “quiet” and the other is not quiet at all. And the credits are broken down the same way. “Silent Night...” appeared to a cheerful Christmas song, as if promising a family-friendly movie. Then, abruptly and bloodily, “...deadly night” burst into the credits, and I squealed with delight. Plus, the music was very, very similar to the main motif from A Nightmare on Elm Street, which added to the movie's nostalgic nature and longing for the movies of the time.
The scene with the old grandfather is the most interesting scene in my opinion. It was this scene that set the tone for the entire movie. Even before that motionless grandfather in the wheelchair 'came to life', it becomes a bit uncomfortable, as soon as the boy was left alone with him. Only the child's reaction to all this was disappointing. Calm, as if every day grandfathers with Alzheimer's disease 'come to life' and tell what Santa Claus does to bad children.
The parental murder episode won't be so gruesome, but it will be sad.
Be glad there's a lot of nudity. Too much female nudity. A lot of it was downright vacuous, like the new “Halloween.” Who goes out on a winter's night to call a kitty from the street in shorts?
Kids. They always create tremendous tension in horror ('The Birds', 'Halloween', 'Killer Crocodile', 'Piranhas'...). Especially when the girl herself joyfully calls out to the evil one, “Santa Claus!”. Not realizing that this Santa has just stabbed her older sister and her boyfriend to death, and in general, the whole first floor was trashed. How the girl didn't hear all of this is unclear, but given that Santa Claus didn't even know she existed, the tension underneath this gaffe is not diminished.
Much more to my surprise were the police. In catching the killer Santa, they will be allowed to use firearms to shoot to kill. And shoot in front of children?! That's how the younger generation can grow up to be the new killer Santas....
And in general, the main moral of the movie is this: Christmas is a family holiday, not a corporate one.
