Weapons 4K 2025 Ultra HD 2160p

Zach Crager, creator of the satirical horror film Barbarian, finished work on his new film ahead of schedule, resulting in the global release of Weapons being moved up from early 2026 to mid-2025. The plot of the future horror film unfolds in a provincial American town, where sixth-grade students disappear for unknown and frightening reasons. All the children, except for one boy, leave their beds late at night and never return. The community blames the tragedy on the children's teacher, who, according to rumors, had a great influence on her students.

User Review

To evaluate the film Weapons, you need to understand that it is not really a horror movie, and certainly not an entertaining attraction for fans of bloody trash (there are a couple of screamers with one violent scene, and that's it). In essence, we are offered an auteur mystical detective story with socio-political undertones. The goal of the project is not to entertain the viewer, although there are comical moments, but to make them think, seeing beneath the layer of genre elements of dark horror the obvious things of our harsh reality (especially with regard to recent world events). The film is a kind of statement on society, entire countries, and the world as a whole. Although the initial clue to the question “What are Weapons?” is literally right in front of your eyes on the poster. But if that doesn't help, then closer to the end, the characters literally spell out the author's entire intention, thereby depriving puzzle lovers of their own reflections. Personally, I think this is a mistake, although I understand that without direct explanations, many will simply not understand the subtext and will end up seeing some kind of meaningless nonsense. After watching the film, it becomes clear why Jordan Peele (Get Out) was upset when he couldn't be part of the project, as this theme and style are very close to his heart.

In terms of narrative structure, atmosphere, and drama, the film can be described as a cocktail of Soul Collector and 11:14 (if you haven't seen them, take note), seasoned with spices from Peele's work.

The narrative is non-linear, broken down into separate parts, each of which tells the story of a specific character. Then, as the story progresses, they all intersect with each other. The technical side, including the visuals, sound, and editing, deserves special praise. Although, perhaps, some will criticize the creators for the overly dark picture. Personally, I can't say that I was particularly impressed by the film. After all, its two-hour running time was noticeable. But in any case, the film left its mark thanks to its talented direction.

In general, for those who love auteur stories with subtext, where one thing is shown on screen but another is implied, it is definitely worth watching, but don't get your hopes up for a masterpiece. Not this time.
