A series of murders rock a dance academy in New York in which the mysterious directress, Candice, sets out to find the killer, with a little assistance from a shady male model, named George, who has a hidden agenda for her as does she for him.
User Review
An unknown maniac has declared war on young girls studying at a dance school, killing them in original and gruesome ways. In this merciless dance of death, the cruel killer and his innocent victims are intertwined, but my God, what drives him and how far will he go?
The 1980s were a landmark period for Italian director Lucio Fulci, marked by the release of his most scandalous and bloody films, which replaced his early comedies, westerns, and giallo films. Released in 1984, The Rock Killer belongs to the slasher genre, filmed in typical Fulci style, with plenty of blood and violence, shot by cinematographer Giuseppe Pinnori in a stylish and harsh manner, with a certain degree of aesthetics. However, in addition to the violent scenes, the film also has a good detective plot, which keeps the identity of the killer unclear until the dramatic finale, and the constant build-up of horror intensifies the viewing experience.
The cast of the film consists mainly of little-known actors, from whom Fulci, however, achieved quite satisfactory performances, but Olga Carlatos (Candice), Ray Lovelock (George), and Cosimo Cinieri (Lieutenant Borges) were particularly convincing.
Keith Emerson created an interesting and melodic soundtrack for the film, which at times contrasts with the content and skillfully builds suspense.
I recommend this film to all fans of horror and trash films, as well as connoisseurs of Lucio Fulci's work and all Italian horror.
