The story takes place in a large supermarket. All the employees have been told that the supermarket is being sold and they’re out of a job. That’s a bummer. Then the psychopathic boyfriend of one of the saleswomen—who just got out of prison after serving a year—shows up and starts causing trouble. One brutal murder follows another, and the store employees are dropping like flies. Who is the killer?

'Intruder' is one of those underrated films that, nonetheless, certainly deserve attention. At the time of its release, the film remained in the shadow of the mediocre ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street,’ whereas it was ‘Intruder’ that earned a long-standing reputation as a truly brutal and bloody slasher. In short, the film is a true masterpiece!

First, I’d like to say a few words about the carnage in the film. Everything here is top-notch—everything is shown in detail, the camera never looks away, which is undoubtedly thanks to the talented cinematographer Fernando Argelles. For the entire hour and a half, we’ll witness a true bloody orgy on screen, just as it should be!

The maniac is portrayed simply superbly. He still inspires terror today, let alone in the ’80s. Many “new wave” slasher films still look up to this character.

The actors deliver truly superb performances. You believe them. You empathize with them. This film is also notable for featuring the famous director Sam Raimi, who would go on to direct the “Spider-Man” quadrilogy and the immortal horror saga “The Evil Dead” . Although at the time Raimi was a little-known up-and-coming filmmaker, it’s very nice to see a familiar face in the film now.

The direction is superb. In the best traditions of famous masterpieces like *The Burning*, *The Stranger*, *Sleepaway Camp*, *The Secret*, 'Friday the 13th,' and others. The director has done a fantastic job!

It’s also worth mentioning the film’s detective element, because it’s not so easy to guess who the real killer is! So, if you’re craving some suspense, rest assured—you’ll find it here! The suspense is truly superb!

Of course, the film is a masterpiece! Films like this go down in the history of the genre, and even today, the best modern slasher films are measured against them!
