The sequel to the acclaimed horror movie 2022. This time the famous pop singer Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) will face the “smiling” demon.
Skye (Naomi Scott) is an insufferable pop star who suffered a terrible tragedy a year ago. She and her husband (Raymond Nicholson) were in a car accident under the influence of drugs. Skye's bones took a good beating, but she survived, her husband did not. A year later, Skye completely stopped using both drugs and alcohol. True, the pain in her back can only eliminate Vicodin, which doctors do not prescribe her because of her addiction history. The pain pushes the heroine to a nighttime visit to Lewis, a longtime acquaintance of the barkeeper. Lewis behaves strangely, lunges at Skye, sows confusion and talks nonsense about some hallucinations. All in all, what else would you expect from a dealer? Nothing suspicious. Lewis ends up smashing his face in blood and dying in front of Skye, passing the baton of confrontations with a smiling demon that feeds on people's traumas and fears to her.

Prologue: He was trying to get rid of a curse, but in the end, a well-thought-out plan didn't go the way he planned.
Skye Riley is a famous pop singer whose fame nearly hit rock bottom thanks to an accident and a drug-fueled breakdown. Now her notoriety is behind her and she's trying to behave appropriately and build a career. One day she gets a call from an acquaintance asking for help. Arriving on the spot, she tries to understand what is happening to him. After that, she realizes that she has become a carrier of a certain parasite, which does not intend to leave her willingly.
Actors: I really enjoyed Naomi Scott's ('Mighty Rangers') performance. All the gloss of the scene and rehearsal disappeared when she started seeing inexplicable things. The fear on her face, paranoia, professionalism and photogenic showed the actress as a multi-faceted person. Now the viewer can easily put themselves in the shoes of any pop singer. Beautiful acting!
Back at the beginning of the movie, hapless cop Joel (Kyle Gallner from And the Storm Came) acted wisely when he chose special people, but that trap slammed shut, and it's so bittersweet to realize that it could have worked out.... if only. You'll see for yourself. I watched the first part today (albeit with great reluctance). It pleasantly surprised me, and at the same time it was incomprehensible why the hero of the first movie - Joel - was wasting his time with Rose. It would have been understandable if kissing and bed scenes had ensued (with Rose's husband alive), but unfortunately, the hero never admitted to feeling sympathy, and in turn, Rose used him as a personal assistant who helps her for nothing. Now that was really weird.
But we're talking about the second part here. So I'd like to say that the movie is very interesting, at least from the point of view of the life of a pop singer who has clearly gone on to stardom. I loved Naomi Scott's performance. She got into the role with such a heartfelt style that I couldn't help but feel like I was in her shoes. Apparently, that's how every star feels when they find themselves in a similar situation.
Here's the corrected text:
It's too early to praise the movie, but I'll try to find an alternative way to drum up interest in Parker Finn's creation. The visuals of the world are impressive. A sequel follows after an ambiguous ending. Terrific acting by the cast, especially from the pop star's support group. You can clearly see how the heroine suffers even in a short time, and in her frantic work schedule it is impossible to find a minute free. In such a short period of time she meets different people and in different areas, so in the second part I like that the director has expanded the new heroine's social circle to include many different characters. Now they've taken on a new form of stalking. Don't worry, the smile is still there, but there are more people. In addition, there were a lot of scary scenes. In my opinion, the scope of the story in the second part became wider compared to the first part, making it a breakthrough in the horror genre.
Toward the end, there is a body horror feel that is intertwined with a complete lack of logic. The ending of the story becomes so unexpected that you forget about any flaws in the movie. The first part, like the second, tried to tell about a certain creature that haunts people, and if you don't do what you need to do, after a week.... you know what happens. The first and second parts reminded me of the movie 'It' with Maika Monroe and Verbinski's iconic 'Ring'. I'd also like to see a full picture of the dream world of modern pop stars.
The director and screenwriter of the movie expanded the story noticeably, but without proper development, still parasitizing on new victims. So far, they haven't offered us a clear understanding of what this misunderstanding is all about. However, the third part, I'm sure, will answer all the questions.
I believe that the sequel did not surpass the first part in originality. Rather, the director only wanted to expand the world of his work, but intentionally left some of the storylines of the first movie unfinished and the ending ambiguous so that these details could be explored in the sequel. The director realized that he could have told more about the entity, but chose to keep its origins a secret. The moral of show business is this: find the right friends. After all, judge for yourself, if the heroine had not gone to the alleged acquaintance (also involved in illegal sales), nothing would have happened.
