A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge 4K 1985 Ultra HD 2160p
Five years later, a new family moves into the house where teenagers were haunted by nightmares of a bloody killer, unaware of the cottage's infamous reputation. Freddy Krueger reappears in the dreams of young Jesse Welham and tries to take over not only his mind, but also his body. Jesse's girlfriend, Lisa, hopes to help him get rid of the obsessive vision. Remarkable special effects and pyrotechnics ensured the film's box office success.

When a film saves a studio from bankruptcy and spawns a new villain around whom a long-running franchise can be built; when the return on investment shows fantastic results; that's when producers finally lose their minds. And so it was clear that a sequel to the first Nightmare was inevitable, but probably no one could have guessed that it would appear just a year later, and that the actors and the spiritual inspiration behind the first part would have nothing to do with it. When the people who created the first film refuse to return for the sequel, it's a very alarming sign. But no one could have guessed that the sequel would turn out to be so poor.
One can lament the lack of acting and the helpless dialogue for a long time, but we must not forget that in the first part, the actors did not show any heights either, and the dialogue was clearly not outstanding or memorable. However, when compared to the second part, it is simply heaven and earth. Still, the main factor is the presence or absence of Wes Craven, who clearly knew what he was doing and what the end result should be.
We can only guess how the second part was made and whether it had any kind of script, because what David Cheskin wrote, even with the best will in the world, cannot be called a script. The events of the film take place five years later in the same house, and we learn something new about Freddy's past.
These pleasant moments for fans of the first part fit into two minutes of screen time, but otherwise, one gets the impression that David had no idea about the existence of the original. How else can one explain the idea of a sequel that contradicts the original source material? In the first film, Freddy acted exclusively through dreams, where he was king and god, but in the sequel, for some reason, he needed to take on flesh and blood. Was it just so he could die at the end and become an incorporeal spirit living in our dreams again?
The situation is further exacerbated by the presence of completely idiotic scenes (from a bus hanging over a precipice to a meeting between the gym teacher and Jess in some gay club) and the static, uninteresting, boring, and forgettable main character of the film, whom we have no desire to root for.
To sum up, one can only recall the words of a character from another Wes Craven teen horror film: “Sequels killed horror movies.” But, on the other hand, the film recouped its costs and made money, which meant that a third installment was inevitable. Fortunately for fans, Heather Langenkamp and Wes Craven graciously returned for the third film...
